HoTT have organised a visit to the new Leeds Recycling and Energy Recovery facility at Crossgates, Leeds. This plant owned by Veolia under their PFI contract with Leeds Council, disposes of the black bin waste from the Leeds area. They recycle 20% of this waste then incinerate the remainder to produce heat and electrical energy. This is a modern plant, unlike the Leeds Road Huddersfield waste plant, and has the latest technology for recovering plastics, paper, cardboard, ferrous metal and aluminium cans. The visit should take about 2 hours from 10.30am. If anyone is interested in joining the visit, please email us on email@example.com for joining instructions. We will probably be sharing cars, so if anyone needs a lift please say.
